Autism Spectrum Conditions Advocacy Project

The Autism Spectrum Conditions Advocacy Project works solely with adults with autistic spectrum disorder in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Individuals do not have to have an official diagnosis to meet the criteria for this free service.

An Advocate supports clients to have a voice in matters that are important to them and gathers information to aid clients pursue specific courses of action. The project has dealt with a range of issues eg Transition from child to adult services, social service assessment, support at meetings, benefit applications; tribunal appeals for continuing Incapacity Benefit, student support; job applications, coping with officialdom in its many forms.

Another benefit of the project is the ability to signpost family members and other professionals to agencies who specialise in ASD.
