Cardiff City FC Foundation
Cardiff City Football Club Foundation has developed a disability football programme, encouraging children and adults of all ages and abilities to take part in football. As part of the initiative weekly coaching sessions are held for the following impairment groups:
- Down’s Syndrome
- Learning Disabilities
- Physical Disabilities
- Deaf
- Wheelchair Users
- Blind/Visually impaired players.
The programme includes:
Wheelchair Football: The club is run as part of our disability programme on a weekly basis. Wheelchair football is played 4 v 4 and predominantly by powerchair users.
PAN Disability Football Sessions: Sessions are for adults with a learning, sensory, or physical disability (age 16+). Sessions are suitable for all skill levels from beginner through to competitive footballers. The club enters teams in friendly games and disability football tournaments on a regular basis.
Physical Disability Football: Aimed at children aged 5-12 years old who are able to walk independently or using a walking frame, and particularly suitable for children who are amputees or have cerebral palsy.
Down’s Syndrome Football: Sessions are suitable for all skill levels from beginner through to competitive footballers for those aged 16+. The club enters teams in friendly games and disability football tournaments on a regular basis.
Deaf Football: Coaches are trained in football specific sign languages and there are also coaches available who use BSL. The weekly sessions are for U16s.
