Cardiff Day Services
Cardiff Day Services is a Day Service for adults with a learning disability internally provided
by Cardiff County Council. The Day Service has 4 locality based teams throughout Cardiff. At Cardiff Day Services, their mission is to provide a service that meets daytime occupation needs and aspirations through their core values of keeping the person at the heart of what they do.
All activity is built around meeting the needs and aspirations of supported people using person centred approaches and values in planning, delivering and evaluating the service provided. The Day Service works with a wide variety of people assessed as having a learning disability including people with profound and multiple disabilities and additional impairments.
Access to the services is through an assessment by the Cardiff Learning Disability Team
The Day Service is community based and accesses integrated, inclusive activities alongside other citizens including for example, supporting people at work and work related opportunities, supporting people in community education classes and other learning opportunities, accessing local Leisure Centres for a wide range of leisure and sports related opportunities and supporting people at a wide range of arts and music provision.
The Day Service has two well equipped Sensory rooms that can be hired for a small fee to
people from the community, one of the rooms is equipped with a tracking hoist and particularly well suited for people with a physical disability.
The Day Service has a well equipped music studio in which people can record and produce
their own music.
The Day Service supports a Community Co-operative called Seren staffed by people with a learning disability making hand crafted jewellery, gifts and cards which are sold at craft fairs and at their retail outlet in Fairwater.
The Day Service hosts an Allotment Co-operative which grows and sells a wide range of produce and a Car Valeting Co-operative. The Day Service is currently working in partnership with the NHS providing volunteers within hospitals.
