YMCA Young Carers Project

Cardiff YMCA can offer support to young carers within the area of Cardiff & the Vale of Glamorgan.

YMCA young carer projects include:

'Time 4 Me' project

This project offers young carers a chance to have a break from the caring role and

  • Experience new opportunities.
  • Meet other young carers.
  • Make new friends.
  • Take part in activities.
  • Have fun!

Young Carers' Life Skills Project

This project develops young carers' life skills, through an assortment if activities, workshops and programmes, such as:

  • Cookery
  • Healthy Eating
  • First Aid
  • Confidence Building
  • Dance Projects
  • Self Defence
  • Managing Money

These opportunities can enable a young carer to participate in accredited programmes such as OCN qualifications and Youth Achievement Awards. The project also works with young carers to give them a voice about issues that affect them. One to one support is also available.
